Recital Weekend has come and gone and once again it was AMAZING! Bennett had the time of her life and is ready to do it all over again. She found out what next years production will be and has already discussed characters, casting, and songs that would fit the production for next year…. NEXT YEAR people!!!! Yes she may be a little excited. 😉 It is hard for me to find words to describe a recital weekend. I feel like I am still learning how to be a Dance Mom even though we’ve been doing this for five years now. Recital week can be described as chaotic, nuts, all consuming, exciting, stressful, and exhausting. And those are all my emotions. Bennett would probably use words such as AMAZING and the BEST WEEK OF THE YEAR! It is all worth it to see how happy she is to dance and be up on that stage. A huge huge shoutout to all her teachers at DanceWorks for believing in her and helping her grow this year. This year was a lot of firsts for her. She was cast in her first production of The Nutcracker, put on by The Richmond Ballet. She traveled with her studios dance company to her first dance convention and learned all about a weekend full of non stop dance training. She also loved every second of watching the girls compete. She loved it so much that she auditioned for company a few weeks later and was offered a spot. She spent the second half of the season training with company and competed with the team at her second convention weekend. Each year her costume number grows and she was so so excited to be in so many recital dances. As a mom I love watching her do something that she loves to do. But more importantly, I have loved watching all her hard work, dedication, sacrifices, and heart towards something that means so much to her. I know as her mother I am suppose to be teaching her about life, but most days I feel like she is teaching me. So proud of her.
Most of you know Bennett requests a dance session every year of all her costumes. We captured all but her opening number costume this year… (because after two and a half hours I called it quits when she wanted to keep shooting HAHA!!!) Check out some of my favorites below.
